A Salute to Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice

The Palm Springs Air Museum is a living history museum dedicated to educating people about the role of air power in preserving the liberty of America.  Aircraft from World War II, the Korean War, and Viet Nam War are on display and some restored WWII aircraft are available for short flights around the Coachella Valley.

Founded in 1996, the Palm Springs Air Museum has held the annual Memorial Day Flower Drop for over 15 years.  The event honors and memorializes the men and women who lost their lives defending the liberties Americans enjoy today.

The 2022 Memorial Day event at the Palm Springs Air Museum was filled with activities, music, food, speeches, flyovers, and ceremonies. The signature event of the day took place in the early afternoon when 3,000 red and white carnations that were dropped from the B-25 Mitchell bomber as it passed over the Air Museum’s tarmac.  Always present every year on Memorial Day at the museum in great numbers are men and women from all branches of the military.

Of all the events throughout the Coachella Valley on Memorial Day, the flower drop at the Palm Springs Air Museum is the largest, attracting upwards of 2,500 people.
