This image was the basis for the 26’ tall, 34,000 pound stainless steel & aluminum statue created in 2011 by renowned sculptor, Seward Johnson.
Unveiled publicly for the first time in Chicago in 2011, Forever Marilyn was relocated to Palm Springs and a public unveiling took place on May 14, 2012 at the corner of Palm Canyon Drive & Tahquitz Canyon Way. The statue is currently located in the Palm Springs Downtown Park and is a common gathering place for locals and visitors. It is one of the most photographed landmarks in Palm Springs and is a popular spot for photography of individuals, friends, families, and festivities.
